NitroxMaker™ Systems

Nitrox with Triox Option

Within the diving community, the term “Nitrox” refers to breathing gas mixtures of nitrogen and oxygen (excluding trace gases) that contain higher than normal levels of oxygen. Normal air has a typical oxygen content of 20.9%. The most common nitrox mixes used for scuba diving contain 32% and 36% oxygen.

Nitrox is the gas of choice for recreational diving the world over, gaining steadily in popularity and availability since the mid 80′s. Diving with nitrox reduces the uptake of nitrogen in body tissues, lowering the risk of decompression sickness and allowing extended dive times. Many divers also report feeling healthier and less fatigued when diving nitrox as compared with diving air.

Brownie’s NitroxMaker™ is an easy-to-use nitrox station designed specifically for yachts. This system is capable of producing and analyzing nitrox mixtures from 21%-40% with the turn of a dial. Simply choose the appropriate mixture and the NitroxMaker™ produces the gas using a high-efficiency semi-permeable membrane system that operates at a remarkably low temperature.

This method of nitrox production eliminates the need to carry bulky and potentially hazardous cylinders of pure oxygen onboard. Additionally, by utilizing a membrane that does not require high-temperature heating for stabilization or efficiency, potential damage to the high-pressure compressor is avoided.

Brownie’s has the ONLY membrane technology that does not require accelerated outlet temperature!

The NitroxMaker™ can be integrated with the medium duty YachtPro™ 45 and the full line of heavy duty Yacht Pro™ compressors. This makes nitrox generation available to a wide range of vessel sizes and configurations.

Modular Systems

Commercial Series

Initially dive stores and technical divers “mixed” oxygen and air directly into scuba cylinders in a process called partial pressure blending. Handling pure oxygen is a specialized process and all technicians should be fully trained and certified in its use. Improper handling of oxygen can result in hazardous conditions, potentially leading to catastrophic events such as fire or explosion.

Brownie’s NitroxMaker™ systems alleviate the burden of buying and handling pure oxygen to create nitrox. Our NitroxMakers™ use a proprietary Cool-Temp Membrane Technology to safely produce nitrox mixtures up to 40%. The nitrox mix is plumbed into the intake of a high-pressure compressor for direct filling of scuba tanks. The correct gas mixture is produced right from the system, so there is less possibility of a faulty mix due to
operator math errors. By keeping the mix below 40%, there are no special handling, cleaning or storage procedures that come into play.

Why create nitrox with a NitroxMaker™ as opposed to mixing oxygen with air?

Nitrox can now be generated continuously by processing low-pressure air and “filtering” out excess nitrogen. Brownie’s NitroxMaker™ products are the most advanced and efficient systems in this category. Our Cool-Temp Membrane Techonlogy produces nitrox permeate compatible with all major brands of high-pressure breathing air compressors. Only a true NitroxMaker™ can guarantee output temperature of less than 90º F / 32º C.

NitroxMaker™ systems are reliable and simple to use. Operation and care can be mastered with minimal training. You simply dial-in your preferred nitrox in a range from 21% to 40% oxygen content. The NitroxMaker™ constantly samples the gas being produced at both the permeate output point (membrane) and at the outlet of the high-pressure compressor. The produced gas can be used to fill scuba tanks or can be stored in high-pressure “banks” for future use upon demand.

Brownie’s will design and size a system to match your diving needs. Many existing high-pressure air compressor systems can be upgraded to a NitroxMaker(tm), giving you the benefits of diving nitrox while allowing you to retain your original compressor investment.

ROTARY SCREW LP COMPRESSOR

The Rotary Screw Low-Pressure Compressor provides the gas that will flow through the NitroxMakerTM. It is precisely matched to the size of the HP compressor and is capable of providing ship’s air for other applications if necessary.

REFRIGERATED DRYER/FILTER

The Refrigerated Dryer/Filter removes impurities and moisture to ensure only the highest quality air flows through the system to the NitroxMakerTM.

LOW PRESSURE AIR STORAGE

The Low-Pressure Air Storage Tanks provide the volume of LP air necessary to drive and maintain the needed pressure for the NitroxMakerTM.

NITROXMAKER™ CABINET

The NitroxMakerTM Cabinet is where the operator designates a desired nitrox mixture up to 40%. Clean air from the LP compressor is converted into nitrox, analyzed and displayed digitally to ensure accuracy.

HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR

The High Pressure Compressor pumps either ambient air or nitrox from the NitroxMakerTM up to 5000 psi for use in scuba tanks and air storage systems.

FILL CONTROL PANEL

The Fill Control Panel directs the flow gas from the high-pressure compressor to storage bottles and/or fill whips. Precise controls allow for efficient “cascade filling” of tanks.

STORAGE BOTTLES/BANKS

Storage Bottles/Banks are high-capacity tanks designed for storing large volumes of gas including air, nitrox, trimix and helium.
